EUPOL COPPS completes training course for the Juvenile Police

 

Jericho, 1st December 2010 - EUPOL COPPS’s Police advisers and Rule of Law experts implemented a 3-week long training course for the Juveniles Department of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP). The closing ceremony took place on the 1st of December at the Jericho Police Training School (JPTS).
 
This training is part of a pilot project in which EUPOL COPPS will support the development of the Juvenile Police within the PCP. This 3-week training was provided to 16 PCP officers coming from the 4 pilot police districts (Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus and Qalqilya).
 
The course was delivered as a specialized “full package course”, including: psycho-social and legal aspects of juvenile cases, defensive tactics, custody specific rules, investigation and interviewing techniques, as well as working with a children as a victim.
 
The graduation ceremony was attended by EUPOL COPPS’ Deputy Head of Mission, Jesper FRIEDRICHSEN, the PCP’s Deputy Head of the Training Department,  Lt Colonel Abdul HAKIM,  the Chief of Police’s Legal Adviser, Maj. Dr. Khaled SABATEEN, the Director of the JPTS, Lt. Col. Zaher SABBAH, as well as Claudia LOFORTE representing UNDP.
 
The course was co-funded by EUPOL COPPS and the United National Development Programme (UNDP).
