Palestinian Civil Police participates in a study trip to Spain
Ramallah, February 20, 2012 - Brigadier Rashid Hamdan, chief of PCP Assistant for Logistics Affairs and another two staff member paid a visit to the Central Police Administration and Logistics Department in Madrid and the Spanish National Police Logistics Centre in Moratalaz, near Madrid.
The delegation got the opportunity to learn from their Spanish counterparts about best practices on many logistical issues such as warehouse management regarding procurement, shipping, stocking and distribution, fleet and equipment management and control.
The participants also visited the Spanish Civil Police (CNP) Headquarters compound in Madrid and have been welcomed by the Director General of the Guardia Civil at the Spanish Guardia Civil Headquarters. In addition, they visited the Spanish Police Academy in Avila, where they managed to see for themselves the logistic arrangements in managing student facilities, dormitories and classroom auxiliary tools for the police.
The study trip was funded byTechnical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX), an instrument introduced by the EU to deliver aid through programmes and projects across the world. The trip, organised by EUPOL COPPS, was held in the framework of developing the logistic capabilities of the PCP.
HAMDAN said the aim of the PCP was to make operational the already built logistics complexes in West Bank cities of Ramallah, Nablus and Bethlehem, in a similar way to those he visited in Spain, a main donor to PCP, through EUPOL COPPS.
