Enhancing the efficiency of the work of Palestinian judges working across the West Bank was at the core of a two-day workshop organised by the Palestinian High Judicial Council (HJC) with the support of EUPOL COPPS, on 12–13 September, in Ramallah.

The 30 participating judges discussed topics they encounter daily in enforcement work, including the use of digital tools and electronic auctions, appeals against enforcement decisions, assessing debtor’s ability to pay, and detention of debtors.

The judges exchanged experiences from their respective courts and discussed some of the differences in how enforcement procedures are dealt with. The deliberations provided an opportunity to identify common challenges and consider most practical approaches.

At the workshop reference was made to the recently launched Mizan programme, the HJC’s digital platform for managing court cases and connecting judges, lawyers, prosecutors and citizens.

The workshop ended with a set of recommendations and follow-up actions for the HJC. EUPOL COPPS’ strives to support the Palestinian justice sector.
