Curbing corruption is an essential step to increase accountability and safeguard public funds.

Against this backdrop, three representatives from the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and one from the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) participated in a study visit for exchanges on European experience on how to prevent corruption, conduct investigation and ensure institutional integrity. Italy’s National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) hosted the Palestinian delegation of experts in Rome on 1-11 September.

The visit was organised by EUPOL COPPS and the EU’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX).

Practical experience on public procurement, protection for whistleblowers and witnesses, financial disclosures, transparency, investigations, financial intelligence, and the use of digital tools were discussed through the exchanges.

The Palestinian delegation also met with representees from the Italian Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Financial Intelligence Unit, and from La Sapienza University of Rome.

The trip also provided opportunities for further cooperation.
