On the Occasion of IWD, EUPOL COPPS Holds Round Table Dialogue ‘Inspiring Inclusion’
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, EUPOL COPPS organized a round-table dialogue with esteemed scholars Ms. Hala Khresat Haj Hasan, Ms. Rasha Al Souki, Ms. Hind Abu Aisha and Ms. Meymass Sulaiman, to discuss the important role of women in institutional affairs and state-building. Acting Head of Mission Karin Limdal opened the dialogue, which follows this year’s theme ‘Inspiring Inclusion’, that sets an emphasis on linking the Women, Peace and Security agenda with the Youth, Peace and Security agenda, to address how Palestinian girls and women may act as agents of change in conflict environments when shaping a peaceful and democratic state.
This year, International Women’s Day is of a particular of importance. Firstly, to commemorate the important role of girls and women in times of peace and war. Secondly, recognizing that sustainable and lasting peace can only be achieved with both women and men at the table. It is also a duty to reflect on the hardships and injustices that girls and women face and an opportunity to enable the younger generation to be the agents of change, as girls and women are not just survivors and victims of war; they are also makers, builders and enforcers of peace.
The Mission welcomed the insightful remarks and will continue to dedicate all its efforts in strengthening the Palestinian state institutions, and remains fully committed to advancing gender equality for women’s access to justice, empowerment and representation.
