EUPOL COPPS organised and supported a study visit to the Ministry of Justice in Rome

EUPOL COPPS organised and supported a study visit to the Ministry of Justice in Rome, Italy, for delegates from the Palestinian Ministry of Justice Planning Unit headed by the Deputy Minister, Mr. Ahmad Thabaleh.
The study visit aimed at exposing the Palestinian delegates to a European model of justice, with its main powers and functions. Inter alia, the discussions focused on comparative perspective on strategic planning and budgetary dialogue. In addition, the Ministry’s role in the legislative process as well as its interaction with other judicial institutes were thoroughly highlighted. A number of justice institutions were visited throughout the mission.
Following the end of the study visit, Deputy Minister Ahmad Thabaleh stated that: ‘The study visit to Italy has been exceptionally successful, where we had the opportunity to learn about strategic planning mechanisms, how to utilise financial and human resources to reduce blockage of cases through implementing legislative interventions and using IT solutions in the litigation proceedings. Many of the topics are very beneficial to Palestine and will be applied in the near future.’
