PCP’s Crime Scene Technicians start 2nd cycle of Training
Ramallah, 7th October 2010 - EUPOL COPPS started the second cycle of the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) training for thirty-six Criminal Investigation Department officers from the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP).
After three weeks of theory on processing of crime scenes, collection/handling of forensic evidence the second cycle of training is concentrating on the use of chemicals in the development of fingerprints and finding and preserving fibres and human saliva.
At the end of the comprehensive six week training the PCP’s Criminal Investigation Department will receive ten CSI vans (previously donated by The Netherlands and Norway) containing all the necessary equipment and latest generation technology for criminal investigation.
Each of these CSI vans will be assigned to a different District of the West Bank in order for the Criminal Investigation Department to completely cover their area of operations.
This training has been funded by the Representative Office of Romania in the Palestinian Authority, implemented by fingerprint expert Dariusz MAZUREK, and coordinated by EUPOL COPPS’ Criminal Justice and Police Law expert, Dr. Michael SCHULTE-SCHREPPING.
