Workshop: tools to protect victims and witnesses of gender-based violence

From 6th to 8th of June 2015, EUPOL COPPS and the Spanish Cooperation organized a workshop on domestic and gender-based violence. To objective of this three-day event was to in order to enhance the operational capacity of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) to implement the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Family and Juvenile Protection Unit (FJPU). This has been achieved through the transfer of best practices and know-how from the Spanish Police. The project focuses on two key areas: the capacity of the PCP to implement Risk Identification, Assessment and Management Procedures for the protection of victims and witnesses of gender-based violence and the development of FJPU case management software and database. It was agreed to arrange other meetings for FJPU and PCP in order to identify the main questions for the victims to be included in the final data base. Ultimately, this database will ease the police and prosecutions services daily work and will improve the cooperation of our counterparts dealing with this special kind of violence.
