EUPOL COPPS facilitates study trip of Palestinian Judges to Romania

From 06 to 11 August 2016, EUPOL COPPS facilitated a study trip of the Palestinian Judicial Council (PJI) to Romania. As part of the creation of a pool of trainers at the PJI composed of judges from the High Judicial Council, nine Palestinian judges have been sent by the PJI with the help of EUPOL COPPS to Romania to finalize the Trainer of Trainer programme in order to become trainer for other judges and possibly prosecutors. The Trainer of Trainer program is a 60- hour long programme, divided into three components. During the five-day trip which was concluded on Thursday, the nine judges now participated in the third and final component of the training, which was conducted by the Romanian National Institute of Magistracy (NIM) in Bucharest, Romania. The previous modules have been conducted by the NIM in Palestine.
With the creation of a pool of trainers at the PJI the sustainability of initial and continuous training of judges shall be ensured. The support of EUPOL COPPS aims at empowering the Palestinian justice sector institutions to effectively perform assigned roles and responsibilities.
