EUPOL COPPS makes deliveries to meet prioritised emergency needs of counterparts

EUPOL COPPS Mission delivered on Tuesday 30 June 2020 equipment to Palestinian Justice Sector institutions to enhance the working capabilities of staff during the COVID-19 health crisis. The delivery of equipment to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and the Legislation and Advisory Bureau (Diwan) enables the two bodies to handle emergency situations more efficiently.
At the Ministry of Justice, Head of EUPOL COPPS Mission Kauko Aaltomaa and Minister of Justice Mohammad Shalaldeh signed the delivery agreement which included laptops, desktops and a one-year subscription to the online legal library (Dar il Marefeh) for the Legal Affairs Department.
The support also included the development of an Arabic/English E-encyclopedia with legal information on the State of Palestine, accessible to the public from the ministry’s webpage on all technical platforms. In addition, the Mission provided the Ministry with 40,000 new and secure templates for non-conviction certificates for the public as well as a fire security system and an IT security solution.
Mr. Shalaldeh commended the excellent cooperation between the MoJ and the Mission which had resulted in the delivery of these urgently needed items.
At the Diwan premises, Mr. Aaltomaa delivered computers and 100 copies of guidelines on ‘Drafting Primary Legislations’ and ‘Drafting Secondary Legislations’. The Head of EUPOL COPPS Mission told the head of the Diwan, Iman Abdulhamid, that the Mission will continue supporting the Diwan during its new mandate which starts on 01 July 2020.
