New Head of EUPOL COPPS meets Palestinian Prime Minister and other key interlocutors to discuss strengthening cooperation

The new Head of EUPOL COPPS, Nataliya Apostolova, met the Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh at his office today, as well as the Minister of Justice, Mohammad al-Shalaldeh and the Attorney General Akram Al-Khatib in separate meetings.

“EUPOL COPPS has a longstanding and deep cooperation with Palestinian law enforcement and criminal justice institutions,” said Ms Apostolova. “I was very happy to meet the Prime Minister, the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General today to talk about how we can build on the excellent relationship our organisations already have. I emphasised that I would like to strengthen our partnership, to further support Palestinian society to meet the challenges of the present and the future”.

This was the Head of EUPOL COPPS’ first round of meetings with high level Palestinian partners since taking up her functions. In the coming days, Ms Apostolova is also scheduled to meet Chief of Police, Major General Hazim Attallah, the Chief Justice and Head of the High Judicial Council, Issa Abu Sharar, the Head of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, Ahmed Barak, and the Assistant of the Minister of Interior for Security Major General Muhammad al-Jibrini.
