EUPOL COPPS statement on the declaration of a state of emergency by President Abbas

A state of emergency was declared by President Mahmoud Abbas on 5 March 2020 as a result of an outbreak of COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus, in the West Bank. The declaration was followed by the publication of a set of emergency measures designed to prevent the spread of the disease.

EUPOL COPPS is cooperating fully with the requirements laid down by both the Palestinian and Israeli authorities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the Mission’s staff and the people they come into contact with.
This includes placing colleagues who have been in high risk areas in preventative quarantine as required by law, cancelling planned events, issuing medical advice and instructions to staff as well as complying fully with the rules laid down by the relevant authorities. The situation is being closely monitored.

There have been no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 at EUPOL COPPS.
