Interim Strategic Review of the Mission

This week, members of the Integrated Strategic Planning Division of the European Union Crisis Management and Planning Directorate are visiting the occupied Palestinian territory to conduct interim strategic reviews of EUPOL COPPS and EUBAM Rafah missions.

The purpose of this type of strategic reviews is not to examine the performance or progress of the Missions, but to evaluate the relevance of the Missions’ mandate on a backdrop of the current operational and political situation, and to get a clear idea of the challenges of the Mission in this perspective.

The findings of the review are consolidated into a Strategic Review Report which, after an alignment procedure, is presented to the European Union Political and Security Committee for their approval.

Following the review and the report, the Crisis Management and Planning Directorate can take on a consultative role in assisting the Heads of Mission in tackling the mandated tasks.
