Minister of Justice acknowledges completion of training by law-drafting officials

The Minister of Justice, H.E Ali Abu Diak, today awarded Training Certificates to seven Palestinian senior officials, who have completed Phases I and II of a Training-of-Trainers course organized by EUPOL COPPS, the EU Police and Rule of Law Mission for the occupied Palestinian territory.

Minister Abu Diak congratulated the participants on their accomplishment of the training modules and highlighted the importance of the course and the benefit of having skilled in-house trainers within the Palestinian Authority institutions. The Head of Mission, Kauko Aaltomaa, also attended the Award Ceremony. Addressing the participants, he thanked them for their lively and positive engagement in the training and expressed his acknowledgement of their commitment to contribute to the capacity building process within their respective institutions.

The course has been attended by members of a Legislative Working Group comprised by department heads and deputies from the Ministry of Justice, the President’s Office, the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of the Interior and the Diwan. The objective of the course has been to build a pool of qualified trainers with the necessary skills, knowledge, tools and training techniques capable of designing and delivering trainings to staff within their own institutions as well as to legislation drafters within other Palestinian Authority institutions.

The first phase of the course was conducted in May 2018, the second phase in November and December this year. One of the new trainers’ first priorities will be to train staff in the effort to ensure the smoothest and most effective implementation of the newly published ‘Guidelines on Legislative Drafting’ and ‘Guidelines on Public Consultation’.
