Congratulations to 15 Palestinian Master Trainers

For the past couple of months, 15 Palestinian Judges and Prosecutors have undergone training in theoretical and practical training skills, so-called Train-the-Trainer training. The course has qualified the participants to become Master Trainers, capable of planning and delivering training sessions with their field of expertise.

Reducing the cost of external trainers
The Master Trainer project has aimed at creating a pool of trainers, and through them reducing and gradually eliminating the Palestinian Judicial Institute’s dependency on external trainers and the cost associated herewith.
The project has also aimed at developing a training programme linked to the career development of judges, prosecutors and court staff. Finally the project has included the publication and distribution of a “Manual of the European Judicial Network for training of Judges”, through the Palestinian Judicial Institute.

Certificates presented
On 29 November, marking the final training session of the Master Trainers course, the Head of the Mission’s Rule of Law Section, Giovanni Galzignato, and Deputy Head of Section, Marit Bergendahl, together with the Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute Judge Dr. Rasha Hammad, presented the course certificates to the 15 participants.

Supporting the capacity of the judiciary
The Train-the-Trainer course supports the overall objective of improving the capacity of the judiciary and to empower the Palestinian Judicial Institute to fulfil its role as the acknowledged training institute for capacity building of the judiciary.
The project is a continuation of the Mission’s support to the Palestinian Judicial Institute through capacity building activities and in line with the Mission Implementation Plan. EUPOL COPPS will continue to support supporting the Institute in its capacity as the main judicial training institution in Palestine.
