Senior Japanese Foreign Ministry Officials visit the Mission

Today, the Deputy Director of the European Policy Division of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hiroki Sugiyama was welcomed to the Mission by its Acting Head, Dr. Katja Dominik.

Ms. Dominik and senior Mission Members briefed Mr. Sugiyama on the Mission’s Mandate, its daily activities as well as the areas of most significant progress. Mr. Sugiyama showed particular interest in the operational undertakings of the Mission and the contribution of Third States to the Mission manning – currently Canada.

Mr. Sugiyama expressed his appreciation of the consultation and commended the good work done by the Mission Members in support of their Palestinian counterparts.

Mr. Sugiyama works on a defence and security issues dossier including the roles and structure of the European Union Crisis Management Missions – referred to as the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Missions. The visit took place in this context.
