With EUPOL COPPS support, Palestinian police conducts scenario training drill

About 70 Palestinian police officers, joined with another 50 security of officers from various security forces, performed a scenario training exercise in Bethlehem to enhance the command and control system and the coordination between the different security services in Palestine. The drills were anchored by the Joint Operation Center (JOC).

The aim of the exercise, in addition to the work of the Operations Room and the operational units, was to involve JOC and to enhance its capabilities to coordinate among the different Palestinian Security services. The scenario was about mastering two simultaneously occurring tasks -- a hostage situation and a serious theft case – which took place in different parts of the city. For this purpose, seven security services participated in the exercise.

The implementation of the JOC is another step forward to enhance the command and control system and the coordination of the different security services in Palestine.
Scenario training is a key tool to maintain upgrading the capabilities of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP).
EUPOL COPPS police advisers have spent 16 months in supporting, advising, implementing and finally evaluating the scenarios that were performed.
