With EUPOL COPPS support, Palestinian police conducts a major scenario training drill

About 70 Palestinian police officers, joined by another 50 officers from various security forces performed a scenario training exercise in Bethlehem in order to enhance the command and control system and the coordination between different security actors in Palestine.

The drills were anchored by the Joint Operation Center (JOC). The aim of the exercise, in addition to the work of the Operations Room and the operational units, was to involve the JOC and to enhance its capabilities to coordinate among the different Palestinian security services.

The scenario included the task of mastering two simultaneously occurring incidents – a hostage situation and a serious theft case – taking place in different quarters of the city. For this purpose, seven security services participated in the exercise. The implementation of the JOC is another step forward to enhance the command and control system and the coordination of the different security services in Palestine. Scenario training is a key tool to upgrade the capabilities of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP). EUPOL COPPS police advisers have spent 16 months in supporting, advising, implementing and finally evaluating the scenarios that were performed.
