Successful high level training course for the Senior Management of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Department

15 senior managers from the Palestinian Correction and Rehabilitation Centers Department (CRCD) has completed a four-day Management Training Course planned, organized and conducted by the Mission’s Penitentiary Adviser and a Visiting Expert from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The course took place in Ramallah from 16 to 19 April with the participation of the CRCD Director, the Directors of the Correction and Rehabilitation Centers (CRC) and Head of Units in the CRCD Headquarters.

The course comprised four modules; ‘Operational Management’, ‘Staff Management’, ‘Leadership and Security’ and ‘Leadership and Rehabilitation/Reintegration’.

The aims of the course were:

  • To enhance the capacity to develop local action plans;
  • To enhance the knowledge and skills on how to manage and operate secure prisons using up-to-date methods within the areas of dynamic security and rehabilitation/reintegration;
  • To introduce systems, tools and working methods related to dynamic security, incident management, classification and rehabilitation/reintegration.

During the course, the participants were introduced to systems, tools and working methods, and templates and instructions were handed over to the participants. The lectures included practical examples and experiences, best practice and research based studies. The course was based on interaction and involved lectures/presentations followed by fruitful discussions. The interactive method offered the participants the opportunity to enhance their capabilities by learning from the Mission’s experts as well as from their colleagues.

The Management Training Course will be followed up by assistance from the Mission to the CRCD in the implementation of local action plans.
