EUPOL COPPS facilitates signing of MoU on fighting against corruption

On 17 May, EUPOLCOPPS facilitated and participated in the Working Group on Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) and Palestinian Civil Police (PCP)  cooperation aimed at enhancing their cooperation in the fight against corruption. The Working Group drafted a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation which was signed on the 18th  of April 2017 by the Commissioner, Mr. Rafiq Al-Natsheh, and the Chief of Police, Major-General Hazem Attallah. The Acting Head of Mission attended the ceremony.

The main objective of the Memorandum of Understanding is to improve coordination and cooperation in conducting investigations into corruption crimes. The  MoU  will empower the PCP to receive complaints on corruption cases and support the PACC and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutors by conducting preliminary investigation on these cases. 

On 17 April, The implementation of the MoU is expected to start immediately after the signature, and the Working Group will continue its work to follow up on the implementation of the MoU and establish the best mechanisms to further enhance this cooperation.
