EUPOL COPPS participates in Europe Day in Ramallah

Ramallah, 09 May 2016 - A joint delegation of EUPOL COPPS, the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) and the Palestinian Ministry of Justice participated on Monday in the celebrations of Europe Day which was organised by the Office of the European Union Representative.

The one-day event has attracted hundreds of guests. The EUPOL COPPS and PCP delegation stood at the plaza of First Ramallah group in a joint booth with the other EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Mission in the area, EUBAM Rafah.

Head of the Office of EU Representative in Jerusalem and Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah visited the open-air fair including the stand of the Mission. Deputy head of EUPOL COPPS Mission, Lena Larsson and other Mission members greeted the guests at the booth. Staff members of both missions have distributed brochures and leaflets, as well as promotional materials such as T-shirts, pens, pins, footballs key-chains and balloons to the visitors who passed by this annual public exhibition, showcasing the EU's support to the Palestinian people.

Other booths for EU member states and EU-Palestinian cooperation projects displayed their products such as traditional Palestinian food.  The event also included  an entertainment corner for children.

Another delegation from the Mission, along with PCP and Palestinian Ministry of Justice are scheduled to participate in the Open Day that all EU institutions will celebrate on 28 May in Brussels.

Europe Day marks the founding of the European Union, when European leaders decided to set aside differences and work together, for the greater good of the people of Europe.
