Annual workshop on Community Policing

Jericho 27 April, 2016 - EUPOL COPPS supported on Wednesday an annual workshop on community policing in the Palestine College for Police Sciences (PCPS) in Jericho. During this event, officers from all districts will share their experiences in the field of community policing and discussed best practices and next steps for moving forward.

A presentation on the partnership process between Civil Society and the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) was delivered by a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) focusing on the civilian perspective of police work. Discussions also took place on how to improve the use of social networks to better interact with the Palestinian citizens.

The event gathered international contributors from  GIZ, the German Cooperation,  and EUPOL COPPS. EUPOLCOPS  delivered a presentation on the theory of community policing and on some current trends and practices from an international stage.

Community policing is a partnership approach between the police and the communities in the towns and villages. It focuses on crime prevention and social disorder problems with a view to enhancing the quality of life of all Palestinians. “
