Police – Prosecution Cooperation

The Rule of Law Section and the Police Advisory Section at EUPOL COPPS provide support to the Palestinian Prosecution Service and the Palestinian Civil Police to strengthen capabilities and skills necessary to conduct effective, efficient and coordinated investigations, by organizing joint training, conducting and assessing joint initiatives and exchanging knowledge.  EUPOL COPPS is exerting efforts in this regard to assist its counterparts in implementing the joint memorandum of understanding between the Public Prosecution and the Palestinian Civil Police and the recommendations of the Police – Public Prosecution Conference that was held in 2012, and by assisting both parties to institutionalize cooperation according to the above mentioned memorandum of understanding.  The objective is to improve cooperation and coordination in conducting investigations.  In heading a strategic forum, the Rule of Law Section and the Police Advisory Section are working through an integrated approach so that the two parts of the criminal justice sector can work hand in hand.
