EUPOL COPPS supports pilot refreshment training of Bethlehem Police

7th October 2010, Ramallah -EUPOL COPPS’ Police field advisers are closely working with the Bethlehem District of the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) in developing a refreshment training programme for its station level police officers. This initiative came from the PCP station commanders themselves and is fully supported by the PCP’s chain of command.

The main goal of this refreshment programme is to maintain and enhance their professional police skills on an operational level (station level).
The implementation of this refreshment training programme will be provided by PCP Trainers of Trainers (ToT) at district level and shall provide the trainees the opportunity to maintain and enhance their skills in the fields of first aid, communication, human rights & gender, physical training, conflict handling, stress awareness, traffic and criminal investigation.
A task force of the Bethlehem Police -consisting of Traffic Department, Criminal Investigation Department, Special Police Force (anti-riot unit) and Operations Department- as well as an officer from the Jericho Police Training School (JPTS) recently visited EUPOL COPPS’ HQ in Ramallah, where they developed a working plan, the contents for the training, timeframes, and benchmarks.

Once the outcome of this pilot refreshment training is successful it will later have a follow up project with other relevant topics and the success will be shared and implemented in all other Police districts of the West Bank according to the same methodology.
