EUPOL COPPS participates in a Police Children Summer Camp

 

Qalqilia, 20th July 2010 - EUPOL COPPS participated in the closing ceremony of the first Police Children Summer Camp that took place today in Qalqilia. The summer camp was jointly organised by the Media and Public Relations Department of the Palestinian Civil Police in Qalqilia and the Municipality of the city under the title “Municipality and Community Policing Friends Summer Camp”.

 

This innovative summer camp brought together 67 children that participated in a large number of educational sport and cultural activities organized by the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP).  The children also received several lectures on the role of the PCP in the society, being the main aim of the summer camp to break the existing barriers between the Police and the society.
This initiative has successfully enhanced the partnership between the Police and the Municipality as part of the implementation of Community Policing project. During the closing ceremony, the children performed a series of activities learned during the 10 days of intense activities such as theatre, music, sports and painting.
The closing ceremony was presided over by the Major of the Municipality of Qalqilia, Mr. Samer DAWABSHEH; the Qalqilia District Commander, Lt. Col. Musa YADAK; the Head of the PCP’s Media and Public Relations Department in Qalqilia, Mj. Mujahed RIBAIA and the Director of the Summer Camp, Ms. Lina SHUWAR. EUPOL COPPS was represented by members of the Police Advisory section Kent VIDING, Arturas SIMELIONIS and Juha HUUSKONEN.
