British Minister of State for International Development meets PCP and EUPOL COPPS officials

27th October 2010 - The United Kingdom Minister of State for International Development, Rt Hon Alan DUNCAN, paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Ramallah Police Station, during his visit to the West Bank.
 
Minister of State DUNCAN met with EUPOL COPPS’ Head of the Rule of Law Section, Nicholas ROBSON, as well as with the Palestinian Civil Police (PCP) Ramallah District Commander, Lt Col Yasser AL FAHOOM, and with the Head of the Family and Protection Unit (FPU), Lt Col Wafa MUAMMAR.
 
The PCP representatives briefed the Minister about policing matters in the West Bank and also how the PCP supports victims of domestic violence.  The UK is a key donor to the Palestinian Authority (P.A.) in the context of the Security Sector Reform and supports the P.A. to tackle violence against women among other activities.
 

The Minister explained that the UK considers that the support assisting the Palestinian Civil Police with a specific focus on supporting initiatives to promote efforts to prevent domestic violence against women to be a key priority.
